Corporate Christmas Gift Ideas and When to Order Them

What to send staff and clients this Christmas, how to choose gifts that survive a list of 200, and why 19 November is the date Australian businesses work back from. Hampers from $59.95.

By Andrew Richards, Managing Director at The Gourmet Pantry.

Corporate Christmas gifts work best when one choice covers a whole list: an alcohol-free hamper for mixed staff, something sparkling for key clients, a voucher for the people you know least. Order before 19 November for the Early Bird terms, and nominate the week you want everything to land.

Gifting is one of the few December jobs that gets easier the earlier you touch it. We have hand-packed hampers in Geelong since 2019, and the business season takes the same shape every year. October is quiet. From the middle of November the briefs arrive in a rush and keep arriving through December. Most businesses order later than they planned to, which is where the trouble starts.

What ordering late actually costs

Not much, if you need five hampers. Quite a lot if you need eighty. The range on Christmas hampers for business runs from $59.95 to $299.95, and the popular lines get tight as the season runs. A substitution in late November is a different hamper, not a discount, and if you have already told your team what everyone is getting, it is also a conversation you did not want to have.

The other cost is your own time. Addresses are always wrong somewhere: someone has left, someone has moved house, two people share a surname and only one still works there. Sorting that out in early November is admin. Sorting it out in December is a scramble.

Why 19 November is the date to work back from

There are two reasons, and only one of them is an offer. The offer first, in full, because the thresholds matter:

Early Bird Special, order before 19 November: A FREE bottle of G.H.Mumm Champagne for every $1,000 of hampers ordered. PLUS 10% off orders of 10+ hampers.

The second reason is that 19 November is not a delivery date and does not have to be. Brief the corporate team early and we hold dispatch until the week you want the hampers to land. The bulk order form has a preferred dispatch week field for exactly this. You settle the list, the line-up and the invoice in November, and the boxes move when you say so. Ordering early costs you nothing in timing, which is the part most buyers miss.

Six corporate Christmas gift ideas that hold up across a list

Gift ideas are easy in ones and twos. The real test is whether one survives 40 recipients, a mixed workplace and a finance team that wants a single invoice. These do.

  1. An alcohol-free hamper as the default. The Gourmet Bites Hamper at $59.95 is the workhorse for long staff lists, and the wider alcohol-free range saves you the awkward exercise of working out who drinks. Workplace policy, faith and personal choice all point the same way.
  2. Sparkling for the relationships that carried the year. The Mumm Sparkling & Gourmet Finest Hamper at $139.95 is one of our most popular corporate hampers, and it reads as generous without tipping into extravagant. The champagne and sparkling hampers run up from there.
  3. Two tiers, one invoice. A heavier hamper for the ten relationships that mattered most, a well-chosen middle option for the wider book. Both come off the same list and bill as one batch invoice, which is what makes 200 recipients survivable for accounts payable.
  4. Dietary options chosen on purpose, not as an apology. The Vegan Gourmet Hamper and the Gluten Free Gourmet Hamper both sit at $114.95, so a recipient with a dietary requirement gets a gift of the same value as everyone else rather than a smaller box with an explanation attached.
  5. A voucher for the people you know least. Digital gift vouchers run from $25 to $1,000, and they are the honest answer for new clients and contractors whose tastes you genuinely do not know yet.
  6. Your logo on the card, and a video behind it. Every hamper carries a personalised gift card under the bow, with your logo printed in full colour at no extra cost, and a QR code on the card can take the recipient to a recorded video message from your team. A few premium card designs carry a small charge.

Two decisions that make the list easy

Budget first, and it is a per-group question rather than a per-hamper one: what is each part of your list worth to you. Free standard delivery on every hamper over $100 quietly changes the maths in the middle of the range, and it applies even when every hamper travels alone to its own address.

Then addresses. Hybrid teams mean a good share of any staff list is home addresses now, and home delivery needs an authority-to-leave decision before the spreadsheet goes anywhere. Yes means Australia Post can leave the parcel in a safe place. No means your recipient collects from a post office in the week they have least time for it. That call, plus a mobile number on every row, prevents most of the delivery problems we see. Hampers for staff covers the team side in more detail, and if you are sending to homes it is worth looking at the consumer Christmas hampers range alongside the corporate one, because a household gift and a desk gift are not the same brief.

On the spreadsheet itself, recipient name, company and each address line cap at 40 characters, so long legal entity names need shortening before they go in. The gift message comes in three lines, To, Message and From, and it is the part recipients actually read. "Thank you for a year of hard work, from everyone in the leadership team" lands better than "Season's Greetings", and it costs nothing to write.

Questions the corporate team gets asked in November

When should businesses order Christmas hampers?

Earlier than feels necessary. The range is at its fullest before the November rush, so ordering in the first half of the month buys you first pick, the Early Bird terms, and time to fix the addresses that turn out to be wrong. You still nominate the week everything arrives.

What is the Early Bird deadline for corporate Christmas gifts?

19 November, and the offer has two parts rather than one:

Early Bird Special, order before 19 November: A FREE bottle of G.H.Mumm Champagne for every $1,000 of hampers ordered. PLUS 10% off orders of 10+ hampers.

Your account manager confirms both parts on the quote before you approve it.

Can you hold delivery until a specific week?

We hold dispatch, which amounts to the same thing at your end. The bulk order form carries a preferred dispatch week field, so you can place and settle the order in November and have it leave Geelong in the week you nominate.

Do popular corporate hampers run out?

Lines get tight rather than vanishing overnight, and the ones that tighten first are the ones everybody wants: sparkling hampers around the $140 mark, and the alcohol-free workhorses that suit long staff lists. If a particular hamper matters to you, get it onto a quote early.

Send the corporate team your list

A rough list is enough to start with: the occasion, roughly how many recipients, a budget per head and the week you want them to land. Email corporate@thegourmetpantry.com.au or call 1300 936 406 between 9am and 5pm AEST, Monday to Friday, and a quote usually comes back within one business day. There is no minimum, one hamper or a thousand.
