What happens if nobody is home?

That is Australia Post's call on the day. Pass the tracking number to the recipient the moment it ships so they can redirect or collect it, and in the last fortnight of December a workplace address is usually the safer one.

What if the office has closed before the hamper arrives?

Does a hamper under $100 still ship free to Sydney?

No. Free shipping applies to a hamper over $100, assessed on its own, since each hamper is packed and sent as a separate parcel. Two hampers under $100 are two shipments with two charges rather than one free one.
